On the Road
2010 / 09 / 28 - Every Good Song
Little just a month ago I finished the Road to Santiago. Little more than a hundred miles, but I walk. Without the faith of the pilgrims, but with the same festive spirit. Instead of going hostel hostel and from church to church, I went from spa to spa and from bar to bar. The faith of each one gets to where you want.
Lots of people. Many youth gangs. All press commented that the young Italian and Polish youths had found the Way. I did not put in doubt. On the Road discovered many more things. It's the good thing about leaving home. At the height of Sarria Italian girls and young Poles had ceased to be Italian and Polish to simply being young.
I was surprised by the music. The absence of the music itself of the Way. The constant presence of religious music post-Vatican II. Bob Dylan horrible translations alongside angelic gospel hymns. Faces of mystical rapture singing hippies old hymns. Good God, I listened again Whight is Wight! In Spanish. Horrible.
